First time visiting The City of Steel, as evidenced by the multitude of cool bridges. I’ll be sure to get pictures later. StokerCon awaits today!
The wife and I (like typical Midwesterners) decided a nine-hour drive was nothing and made a road trip of it. As befitting any trip, there was drama. A package filled with copies of The Broken Heart arrived at my house… the day we left. Luckily, with the help of my wife and my pal K.B., they were overnighted to our hotel in Pittsburgh and were waiting for me at the front desk on check-in. Also sold a copy of Just Desserts to the woman who checked us in (every day I be hustlin’).
We stopped on Tuesday night in Wheeling, West Virginia. And in case you’re wondering, yes, the wife quickly grew tired of my renditions of John Denver’s Take Me Home, Country Roads… not that I let that stop me from breaking into song at every opportunity. Dinner was Primanti Bros, a must-visit for those who enjoy signature meals/restaurants. We went with a pastrami and cheese sandwich. I actually enjoyed it more than expected. The French fries were perfect and the coleslaw had a nice tang to it.

After arriving to Pittsburgh in one piece, we went to dinner with my editor, Michael Dolan, as well as other writers (Vanessa Lanang, Clare Castleberry, and Virgina Montanez) with Winding Road Stories Publications. I kept my awkward weirdness to a 2/10… soon to ramp up at the conference.

Cheers to a great StokerCon! We’ll have a spooky time! (Pictured below is an IPA called Bane of Existence which I ordered in honor of my son, Cat Bane.
